Order In Church Meetings
Let all things be done decently and in order
1 Corinthians 14:40
We have been given a great privilege, the privilege of going to the house of God to worship. But sadly, many take that privilege for granted.
For instance, how much preparation do you put into going to church? How much time do you spend getting your heart ready for corporate worship? Do you pray for the services? The preacher? Do you seek the Lord’s face and ask Him to move in power when we come together? Most of us just come to church without giving what we are doing a second thought. Furthermore, in this casual dress down age, many do not even bother dressing smartly for church. Often children are allowed to run around the church shouting and making a noise, and being the centre of everything. You will be surprised by the amount of emails we receive at “The Gospel Broadcast” from concerned people about the lack of reverence in their church services. Sadly, too many churches today are “child centred” or “people centred,” but sadly, they are not so God centred. If they were, then the words of 1 Corinthians 1:40 would be acted upon; The Bible says: Let all things be done decently and in order.
The Bible has much to say about how we are to go to church. Paul wrote to Timothy and said this: (1 Tim 3:14-15) “These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
In Eccl. 5:1, the preacher said, Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil.
How do you prepare for church, and how do you behaviour in church? If we really believed that we were in the Lord's House, and that He was present in the worship, then I believe we would all think more seriously about how we conduct ourselves.

Prayer
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for You. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water. Father, I thank You and praise for every opportunity to meet with others to worship You, my Lord and my God. In the Saviour's name, I pray. Amen.
