A Door For All

Jesus said, “I Am the Door.”.

John 10:9

John chapter 10, is a precious chapter in the Bible. It should be noted that the first 8 verses speak to the Jews. They focus primarily on the lost sheep of Israel. However, in v 9 the Bible says, “ If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved,” this declares the glorious truth that Jesus is not just the Door for the lost sheep of Israel, but for the lost sheep of the whole world.

The Lord Jesus opens wide the door of salvation and makes a sweeping promise to “anyone” who will enter in to a relationship with Himself. To those who do, Jesus promises some very special blessings v 9 “They will go in and out and find pasture.”

In v 9 and 10, Jesus reveals plainly who, what and where the Door is, and He tells us that “anyone” can come in.

In bold language, Jesus declare Himself to be the door of the sheep (v 7). The sheepfold was usually a circular enclosure surrounded by stone walls. There was only one opening in this wall allowing access into the enclosure and at night, when the sheep were all gathered in, the shepherd would lay himself in that opening and, in effect, he would become the door. Nothing could get in or out without passing through the shepherd. Jesus is saying that He is the Door! No one gets into God’s flock without going through Him. V 1, reminds us that to attempt entry any other way marks one as a thief and a robber!

Simply stated, there is only one way to the Father, and for salvation, and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

Where do you find yourself today? Are you on the inside or outside the Door? If you are, on the outside today, come in, come to Christ today, confess yours sins and be saved.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Thank You that You are indeed, the Door to salvation. Thank You that You call all people to come to You, to come through You the Door, and be saved. Amen.
