Blind Eyes

ree

. . . one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

John 9:25

Today's Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:1-6.

Allow me to try to explain to you the joy of following Christ: the thrill, the excitement, the exhilaration—knowing where I have come from, why I am here, where I am going! There is a reason for existence. There is a reason for getting up every morning of the year. I try to tell you what I have found in Jesus Christ, and in studying the Scriptures and walking with Him. Now you might say, “I cannot see that!” Of course, you cannot. If you do not know Christ, you are blind. Try to explain television to a blind man. He can understand only a little of it, but it does not make sense to him. Try to explain a sunset to him. He is blind to it, he is unable to see. The scales covering his eyes must first be removed from his eyes and likewise, your eyes, and only Christ can do that. He can remove them right now, and you can start living and seeing a whole new world that you never knew existed if you will let Him open your spiritual eyes.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for that Power that is able to give sight to the spiritually blinded eyes of each person who trusts in Your Son, the Lord Jesus. In His name, I Pray, Amen.

Spiritual Attack

ree

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Ephesians 6:10

Today's Bible Reading: Ephesians 6:10-18.

Spiritual warfare is more common than you might think. We tend to think of demonic oppression as a strange thing happening in our life. This list is not exhaustive, but it will show you how the enemy attacks

1. Feeling discouraged, defeated, and depressed. Things seem hopeless, overwhelming, and burdensome. You feel an overall sense of disappointment. Struggle with a lack of peace and feeling stress, and feel like giving up.

2. Loss of spiritual desire. Difficulty with prayer life, and maintaining your work with God.

3. Physical fatigue. Feeling drained and lacking energy. No motivation.

4. Doubting God’s goodness. Struggling with trusting God. You may even feel anger towards God for “letting you down.” Believing that God is angry with you and punishing you

5. Negative, disturbing thought life. The enemy attacks your mind. You may be wrestling with anxious, fearful, or worrying thoughts. Many times, people will erroneously think that nobody cares about them.

6. Thinking about going back to your old lifestyle. The enemy places thoughts in your mind about returning to your old life rather than moving forward with faith in God.

7. Old emotional wounds resurfaced. You believed you had dealt with that area of pain in your life, only to find out it is attacking you again.

8. Battling with feelings of guilt, condemnation, and shame. The difficult feeling like you are not good enough, that you do not do enough.

9. Feelings of rejection. You feel no one truly understands you, and do not feel like you belong anywhere.

10. Confusion over what you believe. Is Jesus really for me? Is Jesus the only way?

These and other confusing thoughts are spiritual attacks. If you feel you are under spiritual attack, do not give up! Attacks will come, but know God is fighting for you, and it shall pass.

Prayer: Father, fortify me in the truth of Your Word. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Contentment

ree

Godliness with contentment is great gain.

1 Timothy 6:6

Today's Bible Reading: Matthew 10:16-23.

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that the world would hate them. They would be “as sheep in the midst of wolves” (Matthew 10:16). They would be arrested, scourged, and brought before governors and kings. Even their loved ones would persecute them. As the world hated and persecuted Him (v 18), so it would treat His servants (v 21). Thousands of Christians have learned the secret of contentment and joy in trials. Some of the happiest Christians I have met have been lifelong sufferers. They have had every reason to sigh and complain, being denied so many privileges and pleasures that they see others enjoy, yet they have found greater cause for gratitude and joy than many who are prosperous, vigorous and strong.

In all ages, Christians have found it possible to maintain the spirit of joy in the hour of trial. In circumstances that would have brought down most people, they have so completely risen above them that they actually have used the circumstances to serve and glorify Christ. Their joy was not the absence of suffering, but the presence of Christ — and in Him, they found strength to turn even trials into triumphs.

Prayer: My God and Father, keep me ever mindful of the need to rejoice in You constantly; to go beyond the circumstance, no matter how desperate, and to see You as my hope and joy. In Jesus precious name. Amen.
