Personal Relationship With God

ree

. . . know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge;

that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:19

Today's Bible Reading:  Ephesians 3:14-21.

Branding everything these days is big business, and advertisers have not left religion out of the boom. But religion on its own will not save anyone.

Christianity is true faith in God that requires salvation and selflessness, but it is being replaced by trendy religion that serves the selfish. A religion designed to reflect one’s personal desire is contrary to having a personal relationship with God, who puts within His true followers His desires.

Society is doing a good job of convincing the world that Jesus has no power to judge sin. Some believe that following His example of doing kind acts to others is what empowers us to be good. The world does not object to this kind of Christianity—content to have only a social Jesus who provides what we want for ourselves.

The world does, however, object to the living Christ, all-knowing and all-powerful, who rightly judges sin. So we try to rationalize away the fullness of Christ, which includes His resurrection and His command to obey His Word. The Bible says, “Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes” (Isaiah 5:21). We must put less confidence in ourselves and more trust and faith in God, who has shown the world His great love. God has opened up the door to mankind to know Him personally. How? By receiving Him as Saviour, and acknowledging Him as Lord by faith. This is having a personal relationship with God.

Prayer:   Mighty Father God, thank You, that through Your Son, I have a personal relationship with You. Thank You that You are my Father. In Christ's name. Amen.

Man's Deepest Problem

ree

To Him who loved us and washed

us from our sins in His own blood.

Revelation 1:5

Today's Bible Reading: Galatians 4:1-4.

One of the ironies of the human nature is that it often has a way of rejecting the best and accepting the worst. We must acknowledge that there is a great defect that runs through the human race, a built-in waywardness that comes from man’s rebellion against God. It is called sin.

An opinion is often a personal judgment without fact or knowledge to back it up. A sharp tongue means to say something unkind, with the intent of hurting someone. It is important to guard our tongues and to use our speech for good instead of evil. How many relationships have been destroyed because of criticism that spiralled out of control? How many friendships have broken down because of a word spoken thoughtlessly or in anger? A harsh word cannot be taken back; no apology can fully repair its damage. People are rebels and are in conflict with every other rebel.

However, the deepest problems of the human race are spiritual in nature and the Bible declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin. They are rooted in man’s refusal to seek God’s solution. The problem is sin in the human heart, which God alone can change. Sin is the great “clogger,” and the blood of Christ is the great cleanser. “The blood of Jesus Christ [God’s] Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). There is no need to be crippled any longer by sin, because God has provided the cure.”

Prayer:  Father, thank You, for the cleansing blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

God's Way

ree

. . . My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9

Today's Bible Reading:  Isaiah 55:6-9.

No matter how advanced its progress, any generation that neglects its spiritual and moral life is going to disintegrate, but generations need regeneration. Life is not meant to be lived according to man’s ways, but God’s ways. The Bible teaches that every person has a soul, and the soul part of us lives forever. If a person commits suicide, that does not end it. What ends is the life of the body, but the soul lives on forever. Some people turn to drugs and alcohol to escape. Millions of people are depressed that life does not turn out the way they had hoped, and we all suffer from time to time with disappointment.

However, while no one can prove God’s existence, it does not mean that He is not real. God reveals Himself to mankind in nature, in conscience. In Hebrews 1:2, the Bible says, “He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” God is a holy God, and the Lord is righteous in all His ways; loving toward all He has made. Those who trust in Him will find their needs met according to God’s Word, and they will find contentment in living God’s way.

Prayer:  My Father in Heaven, I ask that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and mind this day in Your ways, in Christ Jesus. Amen.
