The Message

ree

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

1 Timothy 1:15

Today's Bible Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10

We are inundated with messages from the time we wake in the morning until we go to bed at night. The television and radio in adverts send out messages about what we should drive, what we should eat, and what we should wear. Government sends out messages to get us to accept their plans, policies and goals for the country. The church also sends out messages to try and reach people with the Word of God.

The passage before us today is about a very impotent message that has been going out into the world for two thousand years. The Churches Message is the message of the Gospel. It is the most important message the world has ever heard. It is far more important than anything adverts have to offer, and It exceeds anything any government has to say.

First: It is a message of LOVE. In clear and vivid language, Paul reminds us of what we were before we met the Lord (v 3).

Second: It is a message of LIFE. The Lord Jesus died for our sins, the other side of the Gospel concerns how He rose again from the dead, and gives LIFE to all who put their faith in Him (v 5). When a lost sinner believes the Gospel, the life of Christ is shared with them (John 10:10).

Third: It is a message of LIBERTY. When the Gospel came to us, we are lost and headed to Hell. We had no hope and no one to care about us. But, God, in His grace, His mercy, and His love, reached into our lives and lifted us out. He rescued us from a life of sin. He rescued us from a lit of sorrow. He rescued us from a life of waste. He rescued us from judgment, death, and from an eternity in Hell. He is our Hero because He delivered us and set us free. The Gospel sets us free! Praise His name!

The Gospel is all about Love. Praise God, He loves us! The Gospel is about Life. Praise God, He gives us eternal life! The Gospel is also about Liberty.

If you have never done so before, you need to come to Jesus Christ today. He will save you. He will change your life. He will change your eternity. All He asks from you is that you believe the Gospel. If you will, He will save you by His grace. That is His promise to all who will believe! (John 6:37). Even you.

Prayer: Father, Thank You, for my Saviour, the Gospel message, that You are mine, and I am Yours. In Christ's name. Amen.

No Excuse Good Enough

ree

Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute,

the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?

Exodus 4:11

Today's Bible Reading: Exodus 4:1-12.

Do you ever stubble for words when sharing your faith with others? In Exodus 4, Moses, the man who would lead the Jewish people out of slavery in Egypt, who would cross the Red Sea—was not a leader who inspired a lot of confidence. In fact, he was scared, and he also knew his limitations.

Moses confessed to God in verse 10 that he was not a good communicator and could not lead people with his words. “O my Lord, I am not eloquent … I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” We may say it differently today, but how many times have we expressed the same thing to God?

Of course, his excuses made it about as far as yours or mine. God responded, “Do not worry. I will take care of that. In Exodus 4:11-12, God told Moses, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now, therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.

What an incredible promise! God realised Moses’ human failings, that Moses might not know how or what to say. But it matter not. It was not the words of a broken and scared man, but the words of almighty God that came from the mouth of Moses.

If God did this for Moses, then God will do it for you and me also. We must be obedient to God’s calling and prayerfully dependent upon Him in those moments as we boldly step out in His work, and trust that God will speak through us to others.

Prayer: My God and Father, As I look to share my faith, help me to rely on You and not my own confidence. In Jesus name, I ask. Amen.

Idolatry

ree

“You shall have no other gods before Me”

Exodus 20:3

Today's Bible Reading: Psalm 115:1-8.

Mankind is innately religious. He must have a god—any god—and he crafts them with his own hands and heart. As someone once said, “The power of a nation or a civilization will be weighed not in missiles or divisions, but in faith—whether false or true.” When a nation abandons the true and living God of its Christian heritage, it does not become godless; it simply bows to new idols.

We like to imagine idolatry as relics of the Dark Ages or exotic lands far from Europe, but idolatry in the West thrives—cleverly disguised in our “isms”: humanism, materialism, spiritualism, egoism. These are the sleek, seductive gods of the modern world—polished, praised, and paraded as enlightened ideals. Western culture is no longer Christian—it is a cocktail of paganism and Scripture, a spiritual alloy of contradiction.

We talk of God, but live as though He has no claim on us. We develop a kind of split soul. Our lips say “In God we trust,” but our lives scream “Me first.” We have moulded new idols—idols of success, pleasure, self—and bowed before them. Ours is a modern polytheism: trying to serve both the living God and the lifeless gods we’ve fashioned. But anything that takes His place is sin. And where truth and error mix, compromise is born. Remember the first commandment: “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3).

Prayer: Father, help me each day to give You, Your rightful place in my life each day. In Christ's name, I pray. Amen.
