Creation History

This is the history of the heavens and the earth

when they were created . . .

Genesis 2:4

Today's Bible Reading: Genesis 2:1-7.

In Genesis 2, we have an overview, a recap of God's creation. In these verses, we see the completion of God's work of creation. He rested on the seventh day, blessing and sanctifying it (v 3). Here we see that rest is important to God, not because He need to rest, or was lacking in energy, but rather, rest was something we would need, and thus it was important to Him, and should be important to us also.

God created Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life, making him a living being (v 7). This shows us that God is intimately involved in His creation and cares about every aspect of our lives too-We are important to God.

As we go about our days, it is important to remember that we were created by God and for God. We should honour Him in all that we do and take time to rest and reflect on His goodness. Let us thank God for His work of creation and for giving us life.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word and for the truth that is found in it. Thank You for creating the heavens and the earth and for giving all creation life. Help me to honour You in all that I do and to remember that my life is a gift from You. In Jesus name. Amen.
