Wolves in Disguise

ree

For I know this, that after my departure

savage wolves will come in among you, . . .

Acts 20:29

Today's Bible Reading: Acts 20:25-31.

Paul’s warning to the Ephesian elders echoes across the centuries: be watchful. False teachers don’t always come from outside the Church. Often, they rise from within—eloquent, persuasive, and cloaked in a form of godliness. But underneath lies a desire not to shepherd the flock, but to scatter it.

In our day, many churches in America (USA) have entangled themselves with political ideologies, aligning the Gospel with partisan agendas. This is not a new tactic. When the Church forgets her first love—Jesus Christ—she becomes vulnerable to compromise. The Kingdom of God is not a political party. Christ is not a political figurehead; He is King of Kings.

We must remain grounded in the Word. False teachers appeal to emotion, culture, or convenience, twisting Scripture to fit the spirit of the age. Paul pleads: Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock” (v 28). Examine every teaching. Test every spirit (1 John 4:1). Stay rooted in truth.

The Church is called to be a light, not a lever of political power. We are citizens of Heaven first (Phil 3:20). Guard your heart. Guard the flock. The wolves are still among us—but so is the Good Shepherd.

Prayer:  Lord, Keep me watchful and rooted in Your truth. Guard Your Church from false teachers and worldly influence. Help me follow Christ alone, not the voices of this age. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
