Yesterday

And they led Him away to be crucified.

 Matthew 27:31

Today's Bible Reading: Matthew 27:27-31.

Yesterday, was Good Friday and, we remembered how the Lord Jesus was persecuted and put to death. Jesus Christ was crucified and on the cross, He took on the sins of the world, even though He was blameless. Because of this, many people wonder how that day could possibly be referred to as “good.”

In order to understand the Good-News of the Gospel, we must first understand our sinful nature and our need for a Saviour. In Romans 3:23, the Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Without the Lord Jesus, we are hopeless. Our sinful nature causes us to fall short of His glory, and the punishment we deserve is death.

But there is Good-News! While Jesus the Lord suffered a terrible death for us, it was God’s plan to save us from our sins. Because, you see, the Lord Jesus conquered death, this made a way for all who believe on Him, to be saved and to have an eternity with Him in Heaven one day. On that very first Good Friday, Jesus Christ dealt with the sin problem; your sin problem, and it is for this reason, that, that day is known as Good Friday, because on that day, sins were atoned for.

Today, If you believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you too can receive forgiveness and salvation.

Prayer: Father God, You are indeed the lover of my soul. Thank You for the Lord Jesus, for His love, for His life, and for His work on the cross for a sinner like me. Amen.
