The Book of Life

". . . He has set His love upon me . . . "

Psalm 91:14

Today's Bible Reading: Revelation 20:11-15.

The “book of life” refers to the heavenly record of all those people over the centuries who have trusted Christ as their Saviour, and have followed Him as Lord. Some day, the Bible says, its pages will be opened, and all those whose names are found there will have the right to enter heaven.

If you have given your life to Christ, your name is already written there. Furthermore, Jesus Christ has promised that if you belong to Him, nothing will ever be able to remove your name from its pages. He declared, “I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels” (Revelation 3:5). That promise should be written on the heart of every believer!

But what about those who have not turned to Christ in repentance and faith, and have rejected Him as their Lord and Saviour? The Bible is very clear in its answer, their names are not written in the Book of Life — and as a result, they have no hope of heaven. In Revelation 20:15. the Bible solemnly warns, “And anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

But there is Good News: God loves us, and Jesus Christ came to save us and give the gift of eternal life to all who put their trust in Him! Have you done that? If you have not done so, do not turn your back on Jesus Christ, but by a simple prayer of faith ask Him to come into your life and save you — and He will.

Prayer: Almighty and loving God, than You for the Book of Life, and thank You, that because of my faith in You Son, my name is in the Book of Life. I bless You, in Christ's name Amen.
