God To The Rescue

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
Psalm 37:39
Today's Bible Reading: Genesis 14.
Genesis 14 recounts Lot’s captivity and Abram’s daring rescue—an electrifying reminder of God’s power to deliver and the blessing of walking in obedience.
Lot, Abram’s nephew, chose to settle in Sodom, a city steeped in wickedness. When invading kings swept through the region, Lot was seized along with the other inhabitants (v.12). Abram responded immediately, gathering 318 trained men and setting out in pursuit.
Verse 15 reveals Abram’s bold strategy: a nighttime assault, a relentless chase as far as Hobah (north of Damascus), and total victory—recovering every captive and all the stolen goods by God’s strength and favour.
This dramatic episode highlights the contrast between Lot’s compromise and Abram’s faithfulness. Lot’s choice drew him into danger; Abram’s obedience positioned him to become an instrument of God’s rescue.
Like Abram, when we choose obedience and trust God’s provision, we can depend on His power to deliver us—even from situations that seem impossible. May this story inspire us to walk closely with Him, leaning on His strength rather than our own.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your protection and provision. Help me trust in Your power as I seek to serve and honour You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
