Women of Courage

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1
Today's Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:1, 11:32-34.
The Bible is filled with examples of women whose faith and courage left a lasting impact. Consider Deborah, a judge and prophetess, who led Israel with wisdom and bravery (Judges 4:4-9). Or Ruth, whose loyalty and devotion to Naomi demonstrated steadfast faith and trust in God’s providence (Ruth 1:16-17). Esther risked her life to save her people, showing courage rooted in faith (Esther 4:14-16). Even Mary, the mother of Jesus, exemplified surrender, trust and obedience when she said, “Let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38).
These women faced uncertainty, danger, and societal expectations, yet they responded with obedience, trust, and courage. Their stories remind us that faith is not passive; it is active, often requiring risk and perseverance. Today, we may not face literal battles or royal courts, but we encounter challenges that test our faith: difficult decisions, moral dilemmas, or the courage to stand for truth in our workplaces, homes, or communities.
Like these biblical women, we are called to live with unwavering faith, courage in the face of fear, and devotion to God’s calling. Let their examples inspire us to act boldly, trust God’s guidance, and make a difference wherever we are.
Prayer: Lord God, grant me faith, courage, and devotion like the women in Your Word, to walk boldly in Your will each day. For Christ's sake. Amen.
