Religion or The Gospel ?

Jesus answered and said unto them, “This is the work of God,

that you believe on Him whom He has sent.”

John 6:29

 Today's Bible Reading: John 3:27-36.

Nature-based religions like Druidism (in Europe) focus on the natural world and its powers, often worshipping elements like trees—especially the oak. But natural religion arises from creation, not the Creator. These systems distort or reject parts of God’s revealed truth, offering counterfeit beliefs in place of biblical revelation. God’s word begins with “In the beginning…” (Genesis 1:1), establishing His authority as Creator. Yet, throughout history, His truth has faced many imitations.

Though many claim not to be religious, humans are inherently spiritual. Across cultures and disciplines—whether in the Bible, anthropology, or sociology—there's a consistent longing for the divine. The word "religion" itself has been misused and misunderstood. Some Philosophers have redefined it as morality or knowledge, diverging from Scripture.

Religion today spans a wide range—from occult practices to peaceful worship. But all forms tend to fall into two categories: biblical and man-made. Man-made religions may contain fragments of truth or borrow from Christianity, but they lack the full truth found in God’s Word.

True religion centres on Jesus Christ. As He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). The only path to salvation and eternal life is through Him. A Gospel-centred life is a Christ-centred life, and the Good News is revealed only in the Bible.

Prayer:Father God, lead me in the way of everlasting truth. In Christ's name, I pray. Amen.
