Sunday Gladness

I was glad when they said unto me,
"Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Psalm 122:1
Today's Bible Reading: Hebrews 10:19-15.
A lot of people get what I call “Sunday-sickness." Do you know what Sunday-sickness is? It attacks the victim shortly before breakfast on Sunday morning. It is accompanied by a feeling of weakness and lethargy. Sometimes the victim has a slight headache which is aggravated by the ringing of the church bells. But the disease is of short duration, usually disappearing about noon, when the victim is able to eat a full dinner. But the symptoms usually appear again around late Sunday afternoon, and then disappear until next Sunday morning.
But, for them that truly love the Lord, Sunday is a day to be glad. Psalm 122:1, expresses the delight and eagerness that believers feel when gathering in the presence of the Lord. It highlights the significance and value of communal worship and fellowship among the faithful. The psalmist's response of gladness implies a deep appreciation for the opportunity to connect with God and fellow believers in the local Assembly of God's people.
Psalm 122:1 captures the joyous response of the psalmist upon the invitation to enter the house of the Lord. It reminds us of the privilege and delight found in communal worship and encourages us to approach the presence of God with gladness and anticipation.
Where will you be this Sunday?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirt, ever three and ever One. May I always have the gladness that David had, as each Sunday I prepare to worship You in Your house, Amen.
