Fullness of Life

I have come that they may have life . . .
John 10:10
Today's Bible Reading: John 10:1-10.
People often ask, “What makes Jesus different from all the other religious leaders who ever lived?”. The Bible — God’s authoritative word — tells us “fullness” is the answer to that question. Fullness is found in Jesus (the Son of God) and in no one else, because He is unique. How is Jesus unique?
Firstly, He is unique in who He is. He was not just an unusually spiritual individual, a religious leader, teacher or prophet. The Bible puts it in this extraordinary way: “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). Jesus was in fact God, come to walk among us in the form of a man, some 2,000 years ago in Roman-occupied Israel. This is what Christians celebrate at Christmas, the coming of the Son of God from eternity. His dual nature is why Jesus is called the Son of God: because He is fully human, and yet fully divine.
Secondly, He is unique in what He did. His reason for coming was remarkable. He came to earth for one reason: to save us from our sins, which, if they had been left to us, would have separated us from God forever. Jesus Himself said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). He did this by becoming the final sacrifice for our sins through His death on the cross, and by being raised from the dead as the sure sign of God’s acceptance. The fullness of God’s forgiveness is dispensed through Him - not by our merit, but by faith in His Son Jesus.
Thirdly, He is unique in what He wants. He is the perfect One, but the Lord Jesus calls us to come to Him as sinners, to cleanse and transform us. He is perfect also in love. He has come that YOU may have life, and have it to the full. Come to Him!
Prayer: Thank You Father God, that Furness of life is found in Your Son. Thank You, that He sits at Your right-hand in glory and prays for me daily. Amen.
