Christ, The Bible's Centre

Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets,
He [Jesus] expounded to them
in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
Luke 24:27
Today's Bible Reading: Luke 24:25-27.
In Luke 24, we see that Jesus Christ Himself taught His disciples that all of the Scriptures testify of Him. When we understand that Christ is the centre of the Scriptures, we can better understand God's plan of redemption for humanity.
First: The prophets foretold His coming, His life, His death, and His resurrection. Without Christ, these prophecies would remain unfulfilled, and the Scriptures would be incomplete. By understanding Christ in the Scriptures, we can see how God fulfilled His promises and how His plan of redemption came to fruition.
Second: As sinners, we are separated from God by our sin, and we need a mediator to reconcile us to Him. Christ is that mediator. He made a way for us to come to God by His death on the cross, paying the penalty for our sins. By understanding Christ in the Scriptures, we can see how He fulfilled this role as mediator and how we can have access to God through Him.
Third: In His life on earth, Christ demonstrated how we should live as His followers. He showed us how to love God and others, how to serve, how to forgive, and how to live a life of obedience to God. By understanding Christ in the Scriptures, we can learn from His example and follow in His footsteps.
Prayer: Eternal God, Your Word testifies of Your Son, the Messiah, and that through Him, we can have eternal life. Thank You for all who faithfully proclaim and teach the truth of the scriptures. In Jesus name. Amen.
