Are You of Christ ?

Then Peter said to them,“Repent, and let every one
of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
Acts 2:38
Today's Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:11–22.
In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, he addresses a troubling reality in the early church: division. Verse 12 reveals, “Each of you says, ‘I am of Paul,’ or ‘I am of Apollos,’ or ‘I am of Cephas,’ or ‘I am of Christ.’” Though these leaders were faithful servants, the people’s loyalty was drifting toward personalities instead of the Person of Christ Jesus.
Paul immediately asks piercing questions in verse 13: “Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?” His point is clear—no human leader can save us. Only Christ was crucified. Only Christ was raised. Only Christ unites His people.
Today, we may not declare allegiance to Paul or Apollos, but we can just as easily cling to pastors, denominations, worship styles (pianos/organs), or personal preferences. When our identity is tied to anything other than Jesus Christ, we risk dividing what He died to make one.
The question for each of us is this: Are we truly “of Christ”? Not just attending a church, not merely following a respected teacher, but surrendered fully to the Lord Jesus Himself. He alone is the foundation.
May we humble ourselves, set aside rivalries, and fix our eyes on the One who was crucified for us. In Christ, we are not divided—we are one.
Prayer: Lord, help me find my identity in You alone. Guard my heart from division, and unite Your church in the power of the cross. In the name of Christ, I pray. Amen.
