The Gift Giver

He who did not spare His own Son,

but delivered Him up for us all,

how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Romans 8:32

Today's Bible Reading: Romans 8:31-39.

God is the ultimate Giver of gifts. The value of a gift often reflects the generosity and ability of the giver. Though we don’t always think of people as gifts, the relationships we share are among life’s most precious blessings. The Bible teaches us that God gave us the greatest gift of all—a Person—and that Person is Jesus Christ.

One Christmas, a six-year-old boy answered a knock at the door. When he opened it, there stood his father, just returned home after a month-long work trip. The boy didn’t ask, “Daddy, what did you bring me?” Instead, he threw his arms around his father’s neck and said, “Oh, Daddy, this is the best Christmas present I have ever had!”

As this Christmas season comes to a close, have you done the same? Have you opened the door to your heart and welcomed in the best Christmas present ever?

Prayer:  My Lord and my God, Your costly Gift of Your Son, Jesus, fills all the longings and desires of my heart. Thank You for this incredible gift. Help me to receive Him fully today. Amen.
