Bethlehem's Story

(An Insignificant Town - part 6)

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,

Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,

yet out of you shall come forth to

Me The One to be Ruler in Israel,. . .

Micah 5:2

Today's Bible Reading: Luke 2:21-24.

Jesus Christ was born in a tiny, overlooked town to a humble, poor family. When Mary and Joseph dedicated Him at the Temple, their offering was the smallest allowed—reserved for the poorest (Luke 2:22-24). But God never makes mistakes. Long before, Micah prophesied the Messiah’s birth in Bethlehem—a town linked to King David, Israel’s greatest ruler. Jesus, a descendant of David, coming from Bethlehem, was a clear sign: He is the promised Saviour, God’s Anointed One.

God also chose Mary and Joseph carefully—godly parents who would raise Jesus by His Word. By placing Jesus in a poor family, God showed His love is for everyone. The angel declared to shepherds, “Good news of great joy… for all people!” (Luke 2:10).

So, what about you? Is Jesus just a distant figure from 2,000 years ago? Or is He alive today, ready to forgive, change, and fill you with hope forever?

Prayer: Thank you, God, for sending Your Son on one glorious night to be born from a virgin, to live a perfect life and to die on the cross for my sins. Thank you this Christmas and every Christmas, we can celebrate the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Amen.
