True Worship

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him
must worship in spirit and truth.
John 4:24
Today's Bible Reading: John 4:21–24.
In this powerful exchange between Jesus and the Samaritan woman, the Lord shifts the focus of worship from physical location and tradition to something far deeper: spirit and truth. True worship, Jesus says, is not bound to a mountain or a temple—it's about the heart and the reality of God's Word.
Today, many confuse worship with emotional hype—loud bands, flashy performances, or chasing a feel-good moment. But true worship is not about making the worshipper feel good; it's about honouring God. It's not about dancing and prancing or turning the church into a concert hall, lifting hands and clapping. Worship is for the Lord—centred on His holiness, His worth, and His glory.
The preaching and teaching of God's Word, on the other hand, is for us—to transform, correct, and mature us. Worship in spirit and truth means approaching God sincerely, guided by the Holy Spirit, and grounded in the truth of Scripture. It’s not about style—it’s about substance, reverence, and the heart’s posture before a holy God.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to worship You in spirit and in truth. Keep me from chasing feelings, and help me to honour You with a sincere heart and life rooted in Your Word.In Jesus’ name, Amen.
