Gratitude

O, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 118:1
Today's Bible Reading: Matthew 6:5-15.
A Christian, has every reason to be grateful, not only in word but also in deed. Christian gratitude should find expression in a resolve to live a life more unselfish and more consecrated to Jesus Christ. When we sit around our tables laden with sumptuous food, let us not forget that half the world goes to bed hungry. As we enjoy the comforts of our cosy homes, let us not forget the homeless in our cities, and the great numbers in other parts of the world that have no homes to go to, or tables to sit around.
When we step into our cars, let us not forget that most of the people in the world cannot afford even a bicycle. In the prayer that the Lord Jesus taught His disciples, often known as “The Lord’s Prayer” as recorded in Matthew 6, we read, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Scripture teaches that the good things of this life are the gifts of God, and that He is the donor of all our blessings. Give thanks to the Lord? Yes. Let us get on our knees humbly, and thank God for the blessings He has given us, both material and spiritual. They have come from His hands.
Prayer: Almighty God, You give me such abundance. May my heart be completely consecrated to Your Son, Jesus Christ, so that through Him my life will show my gratitude to You. In His name, I pray. Amen.
