The Sign

The blood shall be a sign for you . . .

Exodus 12:13

Today's Bible Reading: Exodus 12:12-13.

Exodus 12:13, speaks of the Passover, a sacred event in Jewish history when the Israelites were delivered from slavery in Egypt by the hand of God. It is a powerful reminder of God's mercy and grace, and His desire to save His people from destruction. As Christians, we see the Passover as a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. In John 1:29, John the Baptist declares, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, and His blood covers us and saves us from the judgment we deserve. In 1 Corinthians 5:7, Paul writes, "For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." The sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross was the ultimate fulfilment of the Passover, and it is through faith in Him that we are saved. In Hebrews 9:22, the Bible says: "without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins." It is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ that we are forgiven and reconciled to God. As we reflect on Exodus 12:13, let us remember the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away our sins. Let us turn to Him and place our faith in Him, that we may be saved from the judgment we rightly deserve.

Prayer: Gracious God, thank You for the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away our sins. Help me to turn to Him and place my faith in Him, that I may be saved from the judgment I deserve. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
