Bethlehem's Story

(Final-part 6 – A Story to Share)

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,

Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,

yet out of you shall come forth to

Me The One to be Ruler in Israel,. . .

Micah 5:2

Today's Bible Reading: Matthew 2:1-6.

In 1867, Phillips Brooks penned a timeless Christmas hymn, “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” Listen to these words that capture the heart of Christmas:

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!

Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.

Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;

The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above,

While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.

O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth,

And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;

Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.

We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;

O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!

Long before Brooks, Micah prophesied about Bethlehem—a small town with an eternal story. Though brief, Micah’s words overflow with spiritual truth.

Today, the real story of Christmas is buried beneath lights, gifts, and distractions. But Christmas is far more than wrapping paper and shopping sprees—it’s the story of a humble town where the Saviour, Jesus Christ, was born.

This is a story worth telling. Will you share it?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, this Christmastime, help me to share with others what happened in that town of Bethlehem. In Christ's name. Amen.
