The Resurrection Promise

If Christ is not risen, then our preaching

is empty and your faith is also empty.

1 Corinthians 15:14

Today's Bible Reading: Zechariah 12:10.

The prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 12:10) spoke of a future event when God's people will experience a remarkable outpouring of the Spirit of grace and supplication. In this prophetic passage, we catch a glimpse of the resurrection power that brings about repentance, renewal, and restoration.

First: Pouring of the Spirit: God promises to pour out His Spirit upon the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit is the source of divine empowerment, bringing about transformation, conviction, and revelation. Through the Holy Spirit, we are enabled to experience the reality of Christ's resurrection in our lives.

Second: Looking on the Pierced One: The verse continues, stating that God's people will "look on Me whom they pierced." This prophetic statement points directly to Jesus Christ, the Saviour who was pierced for our transgressions. It foreshadows the crucifixion of Christ, highlighting the profound truth that through His sacrifice, we find forgiveness and salvation.

Third: Mourning and Grief: As a result of seeing the pierced Saviour, a deep mourning and grief will fill the hearts of God's people. This mourning is not merely a sorrow over Christ's suffering but a recognition of our own sins that necessitated His sacrifice. It is a heartfelt repentance that leads to a restored relationship with God.

Fourth: Resurrection Hope:ourth: Resurrection Hope:

Although this verse primarily focuses on Christ's suffering and our response of repentance, it also hints at the hope of resurrection. The piercing of Jesus was not the end but the beginning of God's redemptive plan. It points to the ultimate victory over sin and death through Christ's resurrection.

Rejoice in the victory of Christ's resurrection. Hold fast to the hope that through His triumph, you have eternal life. Let this hope sustain you in times of trial and inspire you to share the Good-News of salvation with others. .

Prayer: Prayer: Heavenly Father, pour out Your Spirit upon us. Help us focus on the cross, repent, and embrace the hope of resurrection. In Jesus name, amen.
