. . . The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart . . .

Romans 10:8

Today's Bible Reading: Romans 10:5-13.

In today's text, Paul affirms that “the word of faith is near to us, in our mouths and in our hearts,” which calls us to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. This acknowledgment brings us to a place of spiritual humility, recognizing our brokenness and need for God's grace. It is in this humble confession of our sin, this admission of our spiritual poverty, that God is able to enter our hearts and begin the healing process. The disease of sin has permeated our souls, creating a rift between us and the peace we long for. But in confessing our failure, in admitting that we have fallen short, we open ourselves to the transforming power of God's love.

True happiness, peace, and contentment are not found in self-sufficiency or in denying our need for help, but in the recognition of our need for God. When we acknowledge that we have sinned and cannot save ourselves, we make room for God to do the work of restoration. Through this act of humility, we invite His presence into our lives, and it is only then that we begin to experience the joy and fulfilment that comes from being reconciled with our Creator. The path to happiness, therefore, begins with the simple yet profound step of confessing our sin, for in our weakness, God’s strength is made perfect.

Prayer: Pride kept me so long from acknowledging my need of You, Lord. Each day, help me to realise I am nothing without You. In the Saviour's name, I pray. Amen.
