Clean Hands

ree

Who may stand in his holy place?

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart.

Psalm 24:3-4

Today's Bible Reading: Psalm 24:1-4.

Clean hands, is the question on the psalmist’s mind as he considers his position before his heavenly Monarch: “Who may stand in His holy place?” (Psalm 24:3).

Who indeed? “He who has clean hands and a pure heart” (v 4). Whenever I read that, my first instinct is to step back, intensely aware of my unclean hands before my perfect King. But then I notice how the psalmist defines those with “clean hands”: they do not “trust in an idol” (v 4).

It is idolatry to rely on ourselves—or on anyone or anything other than God—to make our hands clean from sin. Instead, we step forward trusting only in Him. We are welcome in His “holy place” (v 3) because we are hidden in Christ by faith (Colossians 3:3). Amazingly, the Saviour’s clean hands are now ours.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for fulfilling this image in Psalm 24. You are my cleanness, my holiness and my right to stand in the “holy place.” In Your name, I pray. Amen.

The Church Is One Foundation

ree

For we are God’s fellow workers . . .

1 Corinthians 1:9

Today's Bible Reading:1 Corinthians 3:1-17.

There is a hymn that says, “The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord,” and is drawn from Scripture. In 1 Corinthians 3:11, the Bible says: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ,” and He commanded His followers to build on that foundation.

Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. From Him must spring all the activities and teachings of the church, because He is the fountainhead. It is upon His order that the church has its existence. The apostle Peter himself gave testimony when he proclaimed Jesus as “Christ, the Son of the living God,” and Jesus affirmed that upon this truth He would build His church (Matthew 16:16-18). Jesus also made it clear that His followers were to “shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28).

The Lord Jesus is the only perfect Man who ever lived. He founded His church made up of those who believed in Him, follow Him and remain faithful to Him. We must not attach ourselves to a particular minister in the Church, but to the Lord Jesus Christ. The true Christian goes to church not only for what they get out of it, but also for what they bring to It, faithfulness in living for Christ and for going out and being His light in a dark world.

Jesus said, “You shall be witnesses to Me… to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8), and this begins right where we are; in our homes, school, work, and village. He promises to equip us for the work of the ministry and to encourage the body of Christ on earth (Ephesians 4:12). What a wonderful responsibility this is to all who believe.

Prayer: God of all Truth, Thank You for Your Church, and that its Head, and foundation is Your Son. Thank You, that He is the Vine, and we believers are the branches. Keep me serving You my Lord and my God. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Precious Blood of Christ

ree

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things,

like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received

by tradition from your fathers, but with the

precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish . . .

1 Peter 1:18-19

Today's Bible Reading: Genesis 15:1-7.

Old Testament believers lived before Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, yet they were accepted by God through faith in what He had revealed. Genesis 15:6 says, “And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

God taught His people to approach Him through animal sacrifices, which symbolised the future shedding of Christ’s blood. These offerings, required under the Mosaic Law, pointed to Jesus Christ—the perfect “lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:19).

Christ’s death fulfilled the sacrificial system and secured salvation. As the book of Leviticus outlines the offerings, and Hebrews explains their fulfilment, we see one unified message: salvation by grace through faith in Christ’s atoning blood.

Old Testament saints looked forward to the cross; we now look back. In every age, God meets the deepest needs of the human heart through Jesus Christ—fully God and fully man—who died for our sins, rose from the dead, and lives forever.

If you haven’t done so, commit your life to Christ today. It’s the most important decision you will ever make.

Prayer: Father, Thank You, for the precious blood of the Lord Jesus, that saves sinners like me. In His name. Amen.
